You could use your HughesNet to search web reviews all day long but if you want to find the best barbeque in Houston you’ve got to talk to the people. Here are a few of our picks and trust us, we’d know:

Goode Company: This place is an institution here and for goode reason! It’s got the sauce you’re looking for when you think of Texas BBQ and you’ll have to wait a while but the decidedly down-home ambiance is worth it. If you’re going to eat at one BBQ joint in town, make it Goodes.

Hungry Farmer BBQ: This place is about as new age as Houston gets but the locally bought and cooked food they serve is something special. They grow a lot of their own vegetables and their meat is totally organic – it’s where to take a date for barbecue.

Hickory Hollow: Hickory’s been around for decades and they’re still doing it right. If you want the real deal and you don’t want any of the fuss to go along with it, try Hickory Hollow. People in Houston know.

Houston, Texas is home to an incredible array of fine restaurants and ethnic cuisine. So much more than great traditional Texas barbeque, Houston area restaurants offer something for the palate as well as the eye. With roof-top restaurants, Italian bistros, Sushi bars and more, the choice is nearly endless.

According to The New York Times, Houston residents spend more per capita on dining than any other city. As the largest city in Texas, Houston offers ethnic cuisine from Japanese, Creole, Mexican, Italian, Cajun, Vietnamese and more. By simply exploring the city, visitors and residents alike will find something for even the most discerning palates.

For the entire month of August, area restaurants participate in the annual Houston’s Restaurants Week. Over 100 restaurants are expected to participate this year. Five dollars of every dinner sold and three dollars of every lunch sold will be donated to the Houston Food Bank.

Houston restaurants offer an excellent and varied list of both regional favorites and global cuisine. Whether you’re looking for a family dining experience, a romantic dinner for two or a group barbeque get-together, Houston makes your restaurant dining special. Patronizing Houston area restaurants in August contributes to a much needed cause.

Longtime friends Kevin Bartol and Brock Wagner had always loved their hometown of Houston but were dismayed that the sizable city had no breweries of its own. In 1994, the pair opened the Saint Arnold’s Brewery in downtown Houston to craft local beers “with soul.”

The intimate brewery’s five year-round beers are only overshadowed by their 5 seasonal selections. While you can’t go wrong with any of Saint Arnold’s brews, Houston locals swear by the Fancy Lawnmower. This sweet and refreshing beer is a perfect antidote to the Texas heat. The citrus flavors are perfectly balanced by the use of Klsch yeast, which gives the ale a clean taste. Pair this brew with a summer meal of grilled fish and veggies for a delightful treat.

Saint Arnold’s first lager, Summer Pils, is another one of Houston’s best local beers. Like the Fancy Lawnmower, Summer Pils is refreshing and crisp, but with a nutty, slightly spicy taste. Taking the 2009 Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival, this brew’s delicate flavor has become a seasonal favorite for locals. Summer Pils complements spicy dishes and kebabs well and is bottled with a festive tie-dyed label. Enjoy it while it lasts, as Summer Pils only makes an appearance on the shelves of Saint Arnold’s for a few months a year!

The smoky smell as you walk in the door and the wonderful tasting sides that come with the meal. This is what you get in Houston when you find great barbecue. Some places are better than others when it comes to BBQ in Houston. Check out these great restaurants before all the food is gone!
Cheaply priced and with a long standing reputation of the best BBQ in Houston, Burns Bar BQ is one of the most popular places to go. There are not many tables for people to sit in the restaurant, so the best way to enjoy your meal is by taking it home. But it will be worth the trip! Their unique sauce of east Texas makes each forkful melt in your mouth get there early because people make lines later in the day.
If you are looking for a diner style experience when eating, try the Barbecue Inn. The diner is decorated to look like a 50′s hangout and the food sure to make you want to come back for more. The chairs are leather, the floor has tile covering it, and the food is smothered in country style BBQ sauce. They also serve ribs, shrimp and steak.
